Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am a special education teacher at a low-income K-8 school. I teach elementary resource. I work with students experiencing disabilities. I work with them outside of their general education classroom to help with their academics and behavior. I selected Items for my project that will help engage and keep students on track.
I have asked for wobble stools for my classroom for students who need to move their bodies when they are working.
I also added an LED light board to help engage and entice student who are hesitant to complete their work. Thematic books are of high interest to my students and the other supplies are classroom essentials. For sensory needs, I asked for light covers to dim the lights as well as remotes to turn on and off the different lighting options I have around the room. I asked for a sensory bottle kit as a calm-down tool for my students and storage bins to organize different items around the classroom.
