Gone are the days of math worksheet after math worksheet! Math in Kindergarten is hands-on and students use manipulatives to do math work independently. These items are hard for the little ones to manage, and a storage unit will help them better use their time and resources.
We are a new French immersion school located in the Midwest.
Our Kindergarten students spend their days reading, writing, and speaking in French, and they are doing an amazing job in their language acquisition! Are we a private school? "Non!" A gifted school? "Mais non!" We are a 100% free charter school that believes that learning another language is part of a larger goal of preparing our kids to be leaders. Our students come from all backgrounds, and this diversity is what makes us who we are. We have a great group of community members and families supporting our mission, and hope you will join us!
My Project
We are requesting a storage unit that will be perfect for storing our independent and small-group math activities. During math centers, students will be able to choose a math box and get right to work. This box will contain all of the necessary materials to complete the activity (such as dice, pencils, spinners, or pattern blocks) so they can get right to work. At the end, they can ensure all gets back in the box and can return it to its place in the storage unit. This will not only make our classroom math centers run more efficiently, but will provide students with the opportunity to have free access to so many math activities at one time.
Providing our students with the means to access a variety of materials will allow them to have a greater choice and autonomy in their math centers.
You donation would help inspire our young students to take a greater interest in math and will help them to become more autonomous learners.
