This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is not only in the inner city, but also recognized nationally for providing a comprehensive education to an economically under-served community.
We are always looking for new ways to support our district goal of preparing all students for success in college, careers, and life. In the Band Room we are looking to do this in a way that will support environmentalism.
One way we can get high quality reeds to our students, that are environmentally friendly, is to get them synthetic reeds. These reeds are superior to standard cane reeds because they are molded to a perfect shape, more durable so they last far longer, and can be used in a very dry environment. This is ideal for our kids who are in Arizona.
By supporting this Project, you will give inner city kids the chance to use reeds that will require less time to prepare, are more durable, and can help them prepare for college. In addition to helping my students, you will also be helping the environment by supporting a more sustainable solution to the reeds problem.
