Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My third grade students come to class with a smile on their faces because they know our class provides a safe community for them to learn in. I teach at a multicultural Title I school in Los Angeles. All of our students qualify for free lunch and breakfast. Many of my students speak another language at home.
I try to reach all of my students by having fun and creative activities in our classroom so everyone is motivated to learn and work hard.
We have a wonderful blend of cultures in our classroom, from the Philippines, South America, Mexico, and California. Many of my students have a history of being below grade level in math and language arts, but we are working hard to help them discover that school can be a great place to learn!
My Project
Getting my students up to the grade level standards and having them feel comfortable while taking tests is important.
I want my students to love learning and to be prepared in the spring for the California Standards tests in language arts and math.
I have requested a class set of testing dividers so my students get comfortable using them during the year. We will be using the dividers in the spring during testing, so having the dividers now will help my students prepare.
I have also requested pencils, Sharpies, and a large timer that we will use for timed multiplication practice and also for timing our center work. I am also requesting Post-It Easel Pads so I can model writing strategies and keep them up in my classroom.
Your help donating to this project will help this year's students and students in future years too.
