This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In kindergarten, these days, students are working on curriculum that use to be required of first graders. The expectations are HIGH. But, I also want to be able to keep the "FUN" in kindergarten for my students. My goal is to provide engaging activities while still teaching important concepts.

I am a veteran teacher of 30 years.

I always tell my college age daughters and students that there is always something new that I can learn. I work with the most adorable 5 and 6 year old kindergarten students who most always feel like it's a great day to be in school. There are always new things and programs that we, as teachers, need to learn. Some things stay for a while, go away and then come back again. To help our struggling readers, our school is focusing on Guided Reading and Differentiated Instruction. I consider myself a lifelong learner and would love to attend the SDE - "I Teach K" Conference. There are many expert presenters that I would be honored to learn from, first and.

My Project

The "I Teach K" Conference will help me learn to develop lessons and activities geared toward Guided Reading and Differentiated Instruction. In a classroom of 22 students, the academic levels vary. Being able to work with students in small groups on skills and strategies that are specific to their needs will be extremely beneficial for closing the gap between my intensive and benchmark students.

Your donations to this project will bring the most up to date teaching strategies to students who most need it.

Being able to share the information, learned from this conference, with my grade level colleagues will help to close the achievement gap even more.
