My Project
Hi, my students need snacks!
I teach in the South Bronx and many of my students are English Language Learners.
We have a club once a week, but we need snacks. They enjoy the time together but do voice their need for something to eat. I try to provide what I have available, but it's not enough. Also, I continually get new students to the school and they end up joining the club and the resources become slimmer by the day.
The goal of the club is to help them socialize, distract themselves from outside pressure, and just have a good time. The reality is that resources are scarce and money is tight for everyone. I want them to have this safe haven and supply their needs, but it is really impossible.
My students are special because even when the cards are stacked against them, they show up and try their best. I commend them for their bravery and resilience. However, it would be nice if they could have snacks and interact with each other while having a full belly.
