This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students have been impacted in ways they will truly never understand by Covid-19. Many of the parents have lost work with the first initial wave, adding to the 80% of students that are food insecure. I work in a title one school where the majority of students are refugees from countries around the world.
My Project
My students have been struggling to understand the world around them. This has been aggravated by the presence of COVID-19 in their daily lives. I believe that teaching my science curriculum, allowing them to understand a bit of the world will give them some relief along with some predictability in our currently chaotic world. In order to do this safely I need to make sure that I have enough materials and high-quality materials that can be sanitized between uses so that students through the exploration of materials can still be safe.
