Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are high school juniors and seniors who are simultaneously excited for and terrified by the prospect of college. In order to help them prepare for the college application process, I work closely with them to not only help with the logistics of such a complicated process but provide support and motivation throughout.

My students have big plans for college and their lives.

They want to go on to become doctors, lawyers, teachers, and investment bankers. They have only a short year until they will have to navigate the world outside of the school that many of them have known since sixth grade. I want to ensure that they are given all the resources necessary for them to transition from high school to college and beyond.

My Project

My students will be working on their college applications this Fall. Since most college applications and requirements, such as their college essays and resumes, are done electronically, students often have a hard time keeping things together and staying organized.

Giving each student one flash drive will allow them to keep all of their college application materials in one place!

The flash drives will help them keep their college essays, supplemental essays, resumes, and other important documents in a safe space that may be accessed from different computers. Since most of my students do not have the technology required at home to complete applications, giving them the flexibility to access their applications and documents from any computer would be essential to them being successful during this process!
