Help me give my students headphones that will give them access to technology, as well as personal writing boards and a document camera to ensure individual engagement in the classroom.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students learned online for eight months last school year, due to Covid. My students have iPads to use in class, but we do not have headphones, which makes it very difficult for my students to listen to text read aloud or watch videos that may be assigned. This especially impacts my struggling readers, who rely on audio when reading and writing in class. To be sure our headphones are well stored and protected, I plan to use the hanging organizer.
In order for my students to remain engaged in class I plan to use all of these tools to enhance their learning.
I plan to use the individual white boards. To save paper, my students respond on white boards during grammar lessons, where only a word or two needs to be written. My students will use their white boards when solving problems in math as well.
Their work can then be shared with the class using the document camera, as my students justify and explain their strategies and critique the work of their classmates.
Finally, the white board easel will be used with small groups during stations for math and Interventions. My students can build words on the magnetic board, and I can model math or power sentences while teaching my small groups. These items will benefit how my students are able to interact and share their thinking in class on a daily basis.
