My Students
Please help my students be the "stars" of the classroom by singing with live guitar music!
My students attend 3 elementary schools in a high poverty, inner city school district.
I have the honor of working with approximately 500 students ranging from kindergarten to fifth grade. My students are a wonderful group of children that are eager to experience every facet of music possible!
My Project
My students would be ecstatic to have the opportunity to sing with real guitar music! With the increasing drive of technology and emphasis on ipods instead of concerts, many children have never experienced the joy of live music. If I were able to play a guitar during music class instead of CD recordings, my students would have a much more authentic musical experience.
Since I teach music students three different buildings, portability of learning materials is crucial. Due to my district's limited teaching space, many of my classes are taught in non-music classrooms (such as the art room, outside, in the general classroom, etc...) An acoustic guitar would be a perfect solution for the varying environments of my music classes.
By supporting this project you would be giving my students the opportunity to feel like true musical stars singing along with a guitar. This excitement will instill within them a lifelong love of music!

Singing with a guitar is an amazing experience that my students will be able to carry with them throughout their lifetime! Many studies prove that students with a quality music education do better in all facets of their academic career. Please give my elementary music students the spark that will instill a life-long love of music!
