My Project

My students get excited about reading new books and having many different titles to choose from. I am hoping that the books that our classroom receives from this project will bring them joy and help them to see themselves in the stories that are presented to them. I recently attended a literacy conference where several of these books were recommended to teach many different life skills. I am excited to be able to share my learning and these stories with the bright first graders that are in my classroom every day! Using these books that we are asking for we will learn about the way families can be different, understanding and learning to respect different cultures, and being able to bring a sense of community/belonging to our classroom. These will be stories to read throughout the school year and help to build a beautiful classroom community where everyone is welcome and celebrated.
