My Students
My students attend an urban high school. Even though they have a lot on their plates and they come from neighborhoods that are far from affluent, they are committed to doing their best to be prepared for college. What isn't in short supply is my students' enthusiasm and motivation to seize every opportunity to take honors and AP classes that will help them prepare for college. This school year, I am teaching AP 2D Design to twenty, very motivated students. I am so impressed that my students are willing to take on the extra work to succeed in a college level class.
My Project
My students need pre-cut mats to professionally frame their artwork for submission for the AP 2D Design exam. AP or Advanced Placement is a program created by the College Board which offers college-level curricula and examinations to high school students. Many colleges and universities grant placement and course credit to students who obtain high scores on the examinations. My AP 2D Design students must create an entire portfolio of college level original artwork during the school year. We will cover techniques, the elements and principals of design, art history, as well as their own personal influences in their artwork.
By the end of the course, my AP students will develop a body of work that explores and investigates an original idea that is meaningful to them.
The mats are important because we need them to professionally showcase the five best examples of their work, out of their fifteen, original artworks over the entire year. These five, framed artworks will be sent to be scored along with the students fifteen, original digital artworks. My students have the creativity and perseverance to score big on their AP 2D Design portfolio. All they need is the mats to professionally showcase all their hard work.
