Orton-Gillingham is a multi-sensory approach to reading. It helps individualize reading strategies to help get the best results. Every child's journey to reading is different. When I see students it is usually due to a speech and language disability which affects their reading skills. This training will help me get the skills I need to help my students unlock the code to reading. It is 5-day, intensive course that I would otherwise not be able to afford to take. I am grateful for this opportunity to help my students on this journey.
The training will allow me to gain knowledge of the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy, gain knowledge about students with reading difficulties such as dyslexia, understand how EL students can best learn English, identify and administer various types of assessments, and implement and create structured literacy lessons.
