Help! My Students Need Exposure to More Technology
My students need a laptop computer so that we can come out of the dark ages of paper, pencil and book activities alone.

My Students
Being able to hold your students attention takes more than an engaging personality and planning the perfect lesson. You must be able to meet them on their level which includes the use of technology in their education.
My students are bright, creative and tenacious.
The majority of my students are African American children being raised in single parent homes. More than half of them live below the poverty level. Many of them have challenges with their daily needs being met. The obstacles my students encounter does not hinder them from coming to school each day with smiles on their faces and eager to learn. Our school is almost 100 years old and it has a rich history in our school district. however because our school is so old we don't have many of the modern conveniences newer schools have such as Smart Boards, tablets and laptops just to name a few. The technology we do have is shared school wide and sometimes is not available when everybody needs it.
My Project
The students will use the laptop in small groups to do research on life skill topics such as bullying, Self Esteem, Respect and Responsibility. The students will also use the laptop to play review games about the topics that are learned. The availability of a laptop in our classroom will also enable to students to view actual power points and film clips related to our topic as well.
Donating to this project will make a great difference in my classroom.
The students will be able to have the same access to technology that is in other schools. The students will be able to learn about life skills through the use of the laptop that may be more engaging than the regular paper, pencil, discussion and activity sheet. The donation of the laptop will help my students to become equipped as 21st century learners through the mere exposure to this technology.
