Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 32 ESL 4th graders in a Title I school in New York City. Many of my students don't have their own books at home. Their families have come here from their country so that my students can have access to better education and a better life. I have many students who struggle with difficult issues in their lives and benefit from having characters and literature to connect to in that way. Help them learn to love to read!

My Project

My goal for the 32 4th graders in my class is to help them develop a love of reading by learning about and getting lost in the world of a book series! These books will make a difference in our classroom because we know that these books will help our students develop even more of a love for reading no matter what level they are at! The students in my class come from immigrant families, many of who have come here to give these students a better education and a better life. My hope is that they fall in love with the characters in these books and desire to read all the books in the series!
