Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
To improve the lives of students who receive speech therapy in an urban district in CT.
The materials contained in this project will help provide therapy materials to students in need.
This includes receptive and expressive language, articulation, social skills, project and literacy-based learning, via push-in and pull-out service delivery models and aligns with CSDE ESSER priorities.
This will enable students to achieve their goals and meet state standards for listening and speaking skills. Stronger communication skills pay off both in the classroom and the arena of life. These skills pay off for a lifetime and enable students to become better thinkers, speakers, writers, friends, and participants in their community.
- Books were carefully selected to utilize literacy when remediating speech sounds difficulties, retelling an orally presented story, and making text-to-life connections. My students love the Arthur books and have requested new stories.
- Games will be used to work on pragmatic (i.e., social language) skills. Most are cooperative games in which students work together to achieve a common goal.
-Toys were selected with PreK-2 population in mind. These children learn through play.
- A new rug is needed to reduce background noise when moving chairs. A fountain will be used to create a calm, supportive learning environment. This will assist students with paying attention.
