Help My Students Hold the Key to Their Own Success

Help me give my students stamps and a key charm, for the feeling of empowerment at the end of the year. I would like to give my students a key that represents that they hold the key to their own future.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a public middle school located in a rural area. We are a Title I school with 100% free and reduced meals. Most of my students are underprivileged and do not have supplies for class.

My classroom is a place where we focus on building up our inner scientist as well as our own self-confidence.

We are not only teaching these students 8th grade content, but we are also preparing them for high school by teaching them organizational skills, self advocacy, planning skills, & confidence.

My students are always excited to do labs, experiment, and learn. I had an influential teacher that had many student-based activities as well as team building activities. I want to inspire my students the same way.

My Project

I will be mailing out letters to each of my 8th grade students near the end of the year. The letter will wish them well in high school and their future as well as highlight their accomplishments during the year with me.

Along with the letter there will be a key charm that symbolizes that they hold the key to their own success.

This has been my message to the students all year long. Advocate for themselves, ask for help, do their best, know that they can do anything that they put their mid to, & that they are in charge of their own future.

I will also be seeing out a double Helix charm to symbolize their achievements in the Littlewood Lab (Science class).
