My Students
My Graphic Design students attend an urban high school. Even though during virtual learning, they have a lot on their plate and they come from neighborhoods that are far from affluent, they are committed to having a lasting impact on the lives of children in other countries who have even less. Like many urban district’s money is in short supply for some of the "extras".
What isn't in short supply in my Graphic Design class is my students' enthusiasm and motivation to help others.
We can only participate in this wonderful service-learning opportunity, The Memory Project with help from donors like you.
My Project
The Memory Project invites art students to make special gifts for children facing substantial challenges around the world. The portraits help the children feel valued, show them that many people care about their wellbeing.
Given that kids in such situations usually have few personal keepsakes, the purpose of the portraits is to provide them with a special memory of their youth and to help honor their self-identity.
This project will allow my art students to practice kindness, empathy, and service to others. This year our class has chosen to do portraits of children living in Cameroon.
