My Project

I am a fourth year teacher new to third grade this year and my classroom library could use some love! Everyday, my students have 20 minutes of D.E.A.R (drop everything and read) time. It is so amazing to see how invested and excited they get about the books they are reading. Some of the graphic novels I am hoping to receive will help my struggling readers read at the appropriate level. I am also asking for some flexible seating to use in my classroom. This helps students who may need accommodations to help them stay focused and gives students options if they cannot focus at their desk. This includes chair pockets. Having chair pockets will allow for faster transitions between subjects in the classroom because we do not have desks. This will create a great storage space for my student's daily items. Lastly, I am hoping to get a new set of class headphones. We use Chromebooks daily in our classroom, and some students have not brought any headphones in. Having a class set will provide for those students who are unable to purchase their own. These headphones will also allow students who may not be able to read on their own yet listen to audiobooks. This will also support their growth in reading.

These books and items will help my students to continue to grow and encourage a love of reading.
