This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Teens are enjoying a newfound love of reading, but it can get pretty expensive to fund my personal classroom library. I teach mostly CP students in a relatively rural part of the south.
Because my school does not have a library where students can get books, and because most of my students work after school, getting to a public library can be near impossible.
By stocking my classroom library with high-interest novels, I can keep students engaged in reading in a relatively inexpensive way. I am asking for books in a series so the students can check out the first book and then get hooked on completing the series.
Dystopian literature is really hot right now and a great genre for students to explore universal themes including citizens' rights and responsibilities, environmental responsibilities, and personal responsibilities to the impoverished and each other.
