In 9th grade English, my students are discovering the importance of reading as they nurture a love for literature while exploring themes of identity, representation, and ethics. To enhance this journey, I want to include diverse literature that reflects their backgrounds and those of others, enabling them to connect personally with the stories and characters.
By contributing to this project, you would enrich my classroom library with books that foster these important connections.
It’s crucial for my students to see themselves represented in the literature they read, as this not only builds a sense of belonging but also ignites their enthusiasm for reading. Offering them stories that resonate with their lives and the lives of others will deepen their engagement with literature and encourage thoughtful consideration of ethical issues within diverse narratives.
