This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am a kindergarten teacher who is proud to work with some AWESOME students! My students have been working hard to learn their letters and sounds and are finally starting to decode words using all of the new information they have learned. They are an eager bunch and love learning new things. This is my 16th year teaching kindergarten at this school.
Decodable books will allow my students to gain confidence as they become proficient at decoding words!
The science of reading research states that decodable books and text help students build fluency and gain confidence.
Decodable books and text will allow my readers to practice their decoding skills instead of relying on pictures or guessing. I would love for them to have real opportunities to practice with fiction and non-fiction texts.
