Help My Students Become Great Readers!

Help me give my students the ability to read these novels from home. We currently only have enough books for a classroom set. Many of my students have had difficulty catching up because of illness during the pandemic.

My Students

I teach at an urban junior high school. My students are awesome! I teach students from a variety of backgrounds and socio-economic statuses. They come to school each day and try to engage new ideas and concepts, even during this difficult pandemic.

My students have big dreams: some of them want to go to college.

Some want to start their own business. Some want to find a job where they can match their skills with their interests and be of service to our community.

My Project

We currently only have enough books for a classroom set of these two novels.

These extra books will allow each of my students to be assigned a book that they can take home and read.

This will help if any of them fall behind on the reading, or if they need to miss school because of illness. This has been a problem this year because of the pandemic.

This will also help the students to stay more engaged with these two novels. If we cannot finish a chapter in class, then they can finish reading the chapter at home that night.
