Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students from our high school reside in a low socio-economic community. Many of them come from single parent homes where one parent often has to work two or three low-paying jobs, just to pay rent and put food on the table. Many of them will be the first one in their family to graduate.
My students deserve to have the same advantage that all high school students have, a rigorous curriculum in computer science that prepares them for a 21st century career.
As their teacher and role model, I in turn, need to have the training and knowledge and skills to prepare them. This professional development will ensure that I can help my students develop these skills for future success.
My Project
I am requesting funds to prepare me to provide my students with up to date Computer Science curriculum. Technology is the growing and always changing This four-day conference will provide me with invaluable information that I will be able to take back with me to improve my practice when school resumes in the fall. My students will benefit because differentiated instruction is an essential classroom practice if all students are to have equal opportunities to learn. I will be able to create activities that best support the learning of each student in my classroom using the information I learn.
This conference will allow me to differentiate the instruction in my classroom to meet the needs of individual students.
