Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students at my arts and technology college-prep high school for first generation college-bound students are ready to print their projects, essays, labs, and art. The problem is, we are running short on ink for these printers and our budget this year is tight.
Our students come from families who are hoping to see their children be the first to graduate from college.
The teachers at our school are charged with the task of designing rigorous, college-prep projects that also inspire the creative, technical, and critical minds of our students. This means we are always designing rigorous and relevant ways to engage our students in the production of final products that frequently need to be printed out.
My Project
Last year, my Donors Choose request won a "Chevron Classroom Challenge" grant which purchased printers and supplies that all 450 students and 30 staff members at my school are thrilled to have access to. This year, I'm requesting ink cartridges so that we can continue to print the work our students are creating. It is my hope that the materials I am requesting will facilitate and inspire the production of both digital and print media that students will create in order to demonstrate their knowledge in classes such as AP Environmental Science, AP Government, Digital Media, Biology, Spanish, and Pre-Calculus.

A full color lab report, a full size persuasive poster, or a 15 page printed and bound research paper is evidence of this success. It facilitates the development of college-going habits and skills that will allow my students to successfully make their way through college and become the first in their family to graduate.
