This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach 7th to 8th grade students in an awesome Title I, neighborhood school in Miami-Dade County, Florida. My students are a diverse group with various learning needs and challenges. We are a Title I public school which means that more than 80% of the students receive free or reduced-price lunches.
My students are eager to learn and love coming to school.
Our students come from diverse backgrounds and many from challenging family situations. In spite of all this, our students come to school eager to learn and give their best every day. School is a safe place where they learn all of the skills necessary to thrive. They are inquisitive, thoughtful, curious and hard-working.
I am proud to teach such an inspirational, fun-loving, and diverse group of students. Each of them is different in their own way but one thing remains the same, they want to learn, they want to have a future, and most importantly they want to succeed!
My Project
My 7th and 8th grade students need headphones in order to listen and concentrate on the lesson being taught on iReady. The students need to focus on their computer math lessons without any distractions. iReady Math Program is a computer math program that we use in my classes that helps close the student’s gap in mathematics. The assessment portion gives audio directions, which helps students who are struggling in math and reading understand the directions. This math program has math games and animation that engages the students. The students are learning but don’t even notice they are working on math problems because they are having such a great time playing the math games.
