My school is one of the most diverse campuses in the area. In a single classroom I might have a student with a parent who works at Apple, a student who has only been in the country a short while, a student who has recently become homeless, or a student that has two parents that work two to three jobs just to keep food on the table. What I love the most about these students is how they are so accepting and open with one another despite their differences.
My Project
I have a colleague who introduced stability balls as a seating option in her classroom and saw a huge difference in her students' ability to focus during the long block periods. Unfortunately, this is not an option for my classroom because my desks do not have the option to remove the chair. These wobble cushions would be perfect for my kiddos!
As a Freshmen English teacher, I have many 504/IEP plans for students with ADHD and difficulty focusing.
These cushions would easily fit on their chairs and allow them to release some of that pent-up energy. I can't wait to see how these cushions change the classroom environment and build my students' confidence as they develop their English skills.
