This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have some exceptional readers in my class. But most of the resources I get are to help the students who are struggling. My outstanding readers need books, too, and I am desperately trying to find books on the high levels that they need. Please help!!
My students come from SW Denver, and usually from immigrant families who are working hard to make ends meet.
My entire class is learning English as a second language, and many of them struggle with this. I have 5 students reading below grade level, 8 students reading on grade level, and 3 students who are reading above and beyond on a 2nd grade level, and hopefully on a 3rd by the end of the school year!
My Project
These students who are excelling in 1st grade need books! I have all the books I could dream of for my below grade level students, and thanks to other Donors Choose grants that have been fulfilled, I have amazing resources for my on grade level readers. But my incredible readers... they need more! They chew through books daily, reading every second they can, and I just don't have enough material for them! They are especially interested in non-fiction books, which is what this grant is for. They are so curious about the world around them!
This grant is for 2nd and 3rd grade leveled non-fiction reading books that will help meet my excellent reader's need for books in school.
Please consider donating to help the best in my class, continue to get better! Thank you!
