Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is comprised of 16 amazing students who are learning to speak English. They arrive in this country with their families, seeking out a better life and a better education. My students regardless of their age are starting at the beginning of formal education with me. They are great students who are eager to learn. Currently, I have students from 7 countries. At any time, I can receive new students.

Because my students enter this country with little to no skills in English, they need extra opportunities to build on their vocabulary skills.

And this includes having the appropriate materials for them to use! Please help us out in any way that you can!

My Project

My students need more opportunities to read a diverse selection of books and ones that are more motivating to read. Currently, I have very little books in my leveled library that students have not already viewed. I have a very diverse population of students that require books of many levels. I currently need more lower level books from reading levels A-F.

The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of English grammar and vocabulary.

In essence, you are helping my students become better readers! Reading is detrimental to the development of so many skills in life, no matter what language you read or speak. By donating whatever you can, you will help a child from another country learn to read in English!
