Help me give my students a bright and cheery classroom that was lost in the floods. I have ordered foam seating, carpets, decodable books, surge protectors, and writing journals.
The diverse group of kiddos that attend my school come from all over the city of Pittsburgh. Our school qualifies for free and reduced lunch due to the low socioeconomic status of residents. I love my school and the district but it breaks my heart that we are so limited in what we can supply to our students. Parents are working so hard to put food on the table and clothes on their backs that I feel it is my job to advocate to support opportunities for learning and growth. Kindergarten students have walked a much different path entering the school during a pandemic. They have done a tremendous job navigating the technology and learning how to express themselves in a new and unusual setting. I am so proud of the way they have handled this new and confusing time. They deserve everything I can give them to be successful at home!
My Project
As if the pandemic didn't create the most trying school year for our students, we were also slammed with 3 floods that destroyed so many wonderful things in our classroom.
Due to the fact, most items were bought with my personal money or donors like you the School District is unable to replace them.
I am so thankful to be able to call on the generosity of donors and organizations to help us in our time of need.
The replacement items will be loved and cherished by our incoming kindergarten students. The carpets will brighten up our basement and allow for a comfortable seat during small groups. The flex seating will ensure all students can focus during instruction. Journals will allow for students to learn proper writing and keep a collection of their work. The saddest item of all was to throw away so many of our decodable books. The replacements will allow for every student to have a book and pick ones of their interest. And lastly, surge protectors to charge devices and other technology they use during the day. Thank you so much for everything. It's not just the money you provide, It's LOVE and CARE that make the world go around!
