Help! My books have fallen and they won't stay up!
My students need to be drawn to the classroom library by providing a friendly and inviting way to view the books they may choose from.

My Students
Every morning during homeroom, my students begin the day asking to go to the library. They skip right by my extensive classroom library as if it is not even there. I feel that if my classroom library was displayed more appealingly, the students would spend their time more wisely during this time.
My students are from a rural, low income/high poverty community.
Many of my students live in our small town, yet many more reside in the outlying farming community. My classes are intertwined with students who struggle with reading. It has never been their favorite subject. The small rural libraries in our area do not have a large tween selection of library books to choose from. The closest book store is over an hour away. The school and the selection of books we have to offer is the best way for students in my school's community to learn to love to read.
My Project
My goal is to create a more inviting area to display my personal classroom library by having mobile shelving units donated to my classroom. By making the classroom library more accessible, students will more easily be able to choose books of their interest. I will be able to assist students in choosing books of their interest and on their reading level. Titles will be well organized and easily seen for review in various display units. Multiple students at the same time can review the books available to them. These units are in various shapes allowing for multiple classroom set ups. There will never be another dull moment when picking out a book from my personal library again!
My goal for my students is to find purpose in reading.
By practicing reading topics of their interest, they will themselves become better readers, in turn they will become better prepared for their future. We need better display cabinets:Books on Wheels Mobile Library and a
Classroom Revolving Bookstand.
