My Students
My kids are a close-knit group, many of whom come from socioeconomically challenged families living in a small town in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Most of them have been classmates since Kindergarten. Over half of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch.
Our school does a great job of preparing our students for high school, college, and beyond, both academically and socially.
They are a high-energy bunch who have a world of potential. They keep me on my toes, and I love teaching them! I want to be able to provide them with all the tools they need to be successful.
My Project
Art can be integrated into every subject! I like to incorporate art activities into everything I teach. I have a number of projects I use year after year that helps kids learn Math and Science through art activities. While almost every kid thinks art is fun, I have found projects that make successful artists out of even those one or two students in every class that sadly believe they are no good at making art. With the right supplies, right projects, and a lot of encouragement, I have had success with getting. even the most reluctant students to feel the joy of being an artist.
