My Students
Every student wants to succeed and go on to great things. With the rising costs of college, AP classes are a great way for students to get college credit without paying college prices. That's what my AP math classes offer these students.
Our school is a public high school with a very diverse student body.
The diversity can be seen in both the ethnicity and economic levels of our students. However, all of them want to succeed and do well. There are many students that want to take AP classes but the costs of these classes can hold them back. While these classes cost less than college classes, students still have to pay for the tests and buy the supplies necessary for the class.
My Project
Having these calculators will allow me to loan them out to students that need them. A student will not be kept from doing well in my AP math classes simply because they cannot afford a calculator. They will be able to check one out for the year as they do their text book and also use them in class. Having them available to the students will ensure that they are familiar technology when it comes time to take their AP tests.
Having these calculators will allow more students to participate in my AP Calculus classes: those who would otherwise not try the class as they cannot afford the expense of buying their own graphing calculators, as well as those who would attempt the class without a calculator.
All of these students will now have the same opportunity to succeed and go on to great things.
