My Students
My students attend an urban high school. Even though they have a lot on their plate and they come from neighborhoods that are far from affluent, they are committed to doing their best to be prepared for college.
What isn't in short supply is my student's enthusiasm and motivation to seize every opportunity to take honors and AP classes that will help them prepare for college.
This year I am teaching AP 2D Design to about 30 students . I am so impressed that my students are willing to take on the extra work to succeed in a college level class.
My Project
The quality section of the AP 2D Design digital portfolio consists of 5 physical works demonstrating understanding of two-dimensional design in concept, composition, and execution. AP or Advanced Placement is a program created by the College Board which offers college-level curricula and examinations to high school students. Many colleges and universities grant placement and course credit to students who obtain high scores on the examinations.
My AP 2D Design students must create an entire portfolio of college level original artwork during the school year.
We will cover techniques, the elements and principals of design, art history as well as their own personal thoughts and feelings that influence their artwork. By the end of the course my AP students will develop a body of work that explores and investigates an original idea that is important to them. The matts are important because we need them to professionally showcase the 5 best examples of their work, out of their 24 original artworks over the entire year. These 5 framed artworks will be sent to be scored along with the students 24 original digital artworks. My students have the creativity and perseverance to score big on their AP 2D Design portfolio all they need is the matts to professionally showcase all their hard work.
