My Students
I have a classroom full of curious second graders. My students are the COVID kindergarteners and have missed out on so much learning due to the pandemic. My students are so excited to be back in school full time! They are eager to learn and grow but have a lot of catching up to do. Most of my students are one or two years behind and striving every day to work towards learning the second-grade curriculum. They are readjusting to being in a classroom full time and working on building resilience, grit, and stamina.
My Project
My students are lacking number sense due to missed instruction time because of the pandemic. The center materials will help me provide hands-on math experiences during centers for my class. It will also provide them with more choices in the way they demonstrate their knowledge and complete their work. Hands-on activities not only will build number sense but help my busy students stay engaged. The headphones will help my students focus and tune out distractions when working individually on learning apps. The busy classroom can be a noisy place! Being able to tune out the noise and focus in on what they are doing will be a big help to my students.
