Looking ahead into the next school year, my goal will be to have my second grade students be motivated to come to school, wanting to learn and earn money to buy awesome prizes! They will come to school ready to be engaged, be awesome helpers, and learning about money that goes towards prizes.
My students love hands-on learning, some of my kids don't always get the same opportunities at home that other students have.
My Second grade students always share a love of technology, reading books, and singing songs. They need access to materials and equipment that other students from higher income households take for granted.
Too often, teachers focus on the negatives. I want to change that culture in my classroom by rewarding positive behavior. I will be using a money system, similar to how an allowance works.
Help my classroom get fun and exciting prizes the kids will want to save their money for.
The money will be given for being good role models, doing something extra special on a test, staying on task, or helping a friend in need. There will be tiers to the prizes, so the impatient can get a little prize, and the budget conscious can save for the big one.
