My students need money manipulatives (enough for 25 kids), counting money puzzles, one overhead teaching money kit, and a math journal to record their work.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Ross's classroom raised $215
This project is fully funded
My second grade readers are called the Math Wizards. As a first year teacher I have set up my classroom for success. They are shooting for their big goal of learning everything they need to be successful in the third grade. My classroom is full of students from a very low income neighborhood in Washington, DC. They have never had the education they deserved. I am on a mission to give them the best education possible.
My kids need fun ways to interact with learning especially in math. I want to teach these kids about money in a new way. Instead of spending and seeing how much things costs. I want to teach them in the context of saving. "So if you don't buy this how much money will you save?" We do not have enough math resources in my school. I do not have money for them to manipulate. It is difficult to understand money if you don't ever get to see what it looks like.
These math resources will help my students learn about money in ways they never thought possible. I want them to see money on the overhead transparencies. I want them to touch manipulatives that feel like money so they understand what it's like to save real money for a goal. I need the math journal to record their work.
Your help will ensure that my students get to learn about money in a really fun and new way! Please help give these kids the resources they desperately need to succeed!!!
More than half of students from low‑income households
