Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Many of my students don't have access to technology at home. The computers we have in class are dinosaurs. We need updated technology so that they can learn how to use it. I will also use it to enhance classroom learning by accessing the Internet, creating videos and Power Point presentations, etc.

We are in a large school district that has been severely hit by budget cuts.

We have very few supplies and there is definitely no money to be spent on updating, fixing, or getting new technology in the classrooms. Most of my students come from homes where they don't have computers because they can't afford them. They are 5th graders who will be going to middle school next year and will be expected to know how to do research on the Internet, use word processing programs to write papers, and create presentations using technology. I want to provide them with the opportunity to learn how to do these things. The class is very enthusiastic and sweet. They enjoy being active learners and are excited at the prospect of learning how to use technology.

My Project

With this laptop, my students will have the opportunity to learn crucial skills in the use of technology. Everything these days is done through the use of technology and they need experience and practice in using it. The laptop will also be used to enhance classroom lessons through presentations, videos, the Internet, and more. Most of our programs like our reading program and our math program have technological components to them to enhance the learning but I am not able to use them because the couple of desk top computers I have in my class are dinosaurs and aren't compatible with the materials that come with the programs.

Please help my students have access to updated technology so that they can learn how to use it and also learn with enhanced lessons!

Their futures will be full of technology and they need to start learning how to use it now!
