This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are motivated and eager learners that come from diverse backgrounds. Most of our students come from low-income homes and kindergarten is their first exposure to school. No matter the day, all 24 of my students come to school everyday ready to experience the world through a new and creative lens.
In our classroom we focus on getting every student to a level where they read, write and become active learners in order to give them a solid foundation for the following grade levels and beyond.
Some of our students can't make any alphabet sounds, while others are already reading. I help them to help each other grow.
With such an amazing group of children, I am motivated to give them every advantage I can to help them continue to be as excited about their education as they are now.
My Project
Our classroom consists of children that mostly have no access to technology in their own homes. As we all know, technology is now a vital part of society and a proficiency in technology is an important part of education. With the use of educational apps and games, I will be better able to cater to the different learning styles of my students.
Providing my students with iPads will help them become proficient and comfortable using the technology available today as well as show them how to best utilize that technology to further their education.
Our classroom consists of students who need academic support including ESL, counseling and behavioral interventions. Having technology in the classroom will help me better support these individual students learning styles in addition to help them focus more and be more engaged in their education through thoughtfully made educational apps and games.
We will be downloading applications that will aid in learning how to read, do math, science and countless other possibilities. For example, we download audio books that students can listen to as they read along in the book. This helps each student the freedom of choosing a book they are interested in and reading along with it individually therefore making them more active in their own educations.
