Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Instead of the families being required to buy their students school supplies, we are required to supply the school supplies that they will use throughout the year.
Despite the many challenges that my students face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences with the materials that I have asked for the classroom.
My Project
The Arizona state test is coming up and my students need materials to help practice taking the information from the test off of the computer screen and showing their work on paper. I need help providing highlighters and paper in order to prepare the students for all of the test prep practice that they will endure over the next couple months.
Test taking strategies are important to teach!
Students often just try to do the work in their head and guess on the test because they have not been taught how to show their work on paper. As a teacher, it is my job to teach them the test taking strategies as well to help them be prepared for the state tests, as well as having those test taking strategies for college and career preparation.
