Help Me Teach [My] Heart Out

I need funds to attend Teach Your Heart Out so that I can discover what's new in education, learn more strategies for engagement, and bring all my new-found knowledge back to my students!

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Visitors know my students are special right when they walk through the door of my classroom. My students are HUNGRY for knowledge. These sixth-grade students love participating in every subject whether it's a science investigation, a STEAM challenge, a whole group discussion about the Great Depression, or showing me their whiteboards during math warm-ups. They once told me that one of their favorite activities in the class were Socratic Seminars. I have never seen students so excited to engage in academic content!

Their desire to learn has inspired me to become the best teacher I can be.

I have students come to my classroom in the morning to complete their homework because they do not have a computer at home. I have students who ask me to assign more homework so that they can practice more. I even have students that stay in during recess to receive any extra tutoring so that they can excel. These students are hard-working, determined and inspiring.

My Project

Teach Your Heart Out is a national conference that promotes student engagement, research-based instructional strategies, and is a network of teachers looking to bring their students the best that the field of education has to offer. I will use this opportunity to absorb as much knowledge as I can to help inspire my students.

The conference will enhance my instruction through collaboration with educators from all over the country.

A teacher's best resource is another teacher who has the experience, passion, and insight into student motivation and learning. Although I have been teaching for two years, I want to further pursue strategies and techniques in order to be the best teacher I can be for my sixth graders.

My students will benefit from my further professional development through the new classroom management strategies I learn. I also hope to learn techniques to make writing lessons more engaging and foster a love of learning. My students have encountered numerous obstacles in their personal lives, so I want this conference to help make my classroom a safe, fun place where students feel like they can be themselves.
