Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A day in my classroom is exciting, brimming with enthusiasm and love of learning. We read, discuss literature, science and look outside and online for resources that bring to life the texts we read. We like to "show more than to tell"; technology will provide a direct tool to bring lessons to life.
My students are mostly recent immigrants; they are needy from a high poverty area (Title I) school.
The majority of our students are in Free and Reduced lunch programs. Most of my students have parents who cannot assist them with homework since they are still first generation Hispanics struggling to learn English.
My Project
These materials will provide a direct window to the world to expand, enrich and enhance their Language Arts and Science lessons through programs such as Brainpop, Tumblebooks, Capstone Library, online visual dictionaries, and encyclopedias that will be key in making the connection between reading and real life through technology.
This tablet will be a window of opportunity to my students, it will be critical in making a solid connection between a text and life.
It will be instrumental in bringing to life lessons that will help them succeed academically. Finally, to a certain extent, it will bridge the gap between a student that does not have internet at home and a student that has an opportunity to explore, discover and excel.
