Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a kindergarten teacher. The community that I work in is dominated by low-income families. I currently have 24 students in my class.
Our class is in need of a CD player/radio for our listening center. The students have books on tapes and CD's, but no radio to listen to the books on. We would also like 3 books with CD.
The CD player/radio is important to our kindergartners because as they listen to books on the tapes/CD's, they are building their reading skills, fluency, vocabulary and love of reading. We also have a phonics kit that came with our curriculum but it requires a CD player, so the kit has not been used yet. There are also songs that we can sing that will help the students learn things quicker. Books with CD's are great for students to learn to read!
By donating a CD player/radio to our class and some books with CD's, our students will be able to build on their reading and phonics skills. Reading and phonics are crucial to a child success in school!
