Help Me Read To My Family

My Project

These Scholastic magazines will be used to teach students a wide range of genres including informational and narrative nonfiction, short fiction, poetry, debates, read-aloud plays based on myths, classic literature, and history. It will provide challenging reader tasks that support every text and require students to apply ELA skills directly from the Common Core. This magazine also has a technology component which has videos and visual support for our second language learners.

One of my biggest struggles is to get students, who struggle to have reading success, excited about reading.

These magazines do just that. These magazines are filled with enriching activities. When these students read an entire article and analyze it themselves, they are successful, and success is addictive. Imagine students with parents rereading the articles and the non-English speaking parents learning English from their own child.
