Hello, I am an ESL Teacher at a Tier 1 school, and my students are English language learners in middle school. They are all wonderful kids, and most of them are new to the country and in need of support in many ways. They come from a variety of cultural backgrounds, speak various languages, and have varying levels of English. I'm grateful to be able to teach them, and I'd like to provide them with more learning chances and tools.
My students are all enthusiastic to learn English and my goal is to provide them with physical access to bilingual books as a great supplement to help them begin fundamental reading.
My Project
With your donation, my students will have access to a library of bilingual children's books, and even newcomers will be able to begin learning English through reading right away. I selected a variety of stories that are in English and Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, or Amharic to add to my classroom library. They can use dictionaries to further explore vocabulary while learning new ones in the selected books. The bilingual literature available in our library will allow my kids to feel more fitted to their learning and more eager to read in order to improve their English.
