This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our school, computers are utilized by students across all subjects daily. However, we currently face a challenge with our outdated computer cart, which lacks sufficient space to accommodate all their devices. Consequently, it has become quite chaotic with tangled cords snaking around.

To address this issue, I am seeking to acquire a new and improved cart that not only provides adequate space for all the devices but also promotes organization.

Our students rely on Chromebooks from 7th to 12th grade. Over time, the chargers for these devices have worn out, cords have frayed or gone missing, some have been left at home, and occasionally, chargers mysteriously disappear (maybe borrowed and forgotten by a forgetful teenager!).

Unfortunately, the limited availability of chargers has resulted in wasted instructional time, as students often have to wait for their Chromebooks to charge. Consequently, they are unable to work as efficiently as we would like them to. It has also led to students having to work in pairs on activities that ideally should be done independently, as there are not enough working devices accessible. This situation detracts from the overall educational experience we strive to provide.

By having a supply of chargers available in my classroom, I can ensure that student progress is not impeded by the need to wait for a charger or access to electronic resources. This will greatly reduce stress and, in some cases, eliminate the chaos of students constantly swapping power cords between computers throughout the class period.
