My Project

My love of reading was inspired by excellent teachers. Through these teachers I was exposed to quality literature through book studies. This, in turn, has driven my desire to have the same impact on my students. The book "Wonder" not only is engaging and relatable as the main character is a 5th grade student, but it also encourages acceptance as he deals with challenges due to facial abnormalities.

Through this book study, students will have the opportunity to explore 5th grade ELA standards through award-winning literature.Classroom discussions surrounding themes that are prevalent throughout this book will take place leading organically into a higher depth of knowledge.

My ultimate goal is to foster a love of reading while encouraging empathy in our next generation. Thank you for your consideration!
