Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from various backgrounds. Their socio-economic status varies. My students are inquisitive learners. I teach at a Title I school with limited resources for our very special population of students.

My students have learning disabilities, but that does not stop them from trying their best and learning as much as they can.

They do understand their surroundings, where they come from, and they constantly want to explore their ever changing world. They enjoy learning and work so hard every single day. They are inspiring.

My Project

This collection of books has been carefully selected to have the most dramatic impact on my classroom teaching, while improving educational opportunities for my students.

Multiplication is for White People, Math Minutes Practice, Common Core Math, and Mastering Essential Math Skills will address the different learning styles of all my students.

These books will allow me to deepen my understanding of the cultural differences that my students encounter on a daily basis.

The Mastering Essential Math Skills, Math Minutes, 180 Days of Math will all address the importance of developing strong math skills. Junior high are crucial years for students - research has shown that students who are below grade level when they enter junior high will likely never catch up to their on level peers. Finding new ways to keep my math instruction fresh will help me close the achievement gap for those students.

One of my passions is teaching math - and Mathematical Mindsets will help me continue to build new strategies for developing critical thinking skills with regards to math. It will also help me continue to show students the importance of math in life beyond school.
