My 12 special education students are amazing second and third graders. Children who I want to help be successful in other areas, to in turn help them academically. All children learn differently and my attempt is to ensure that I find the way that helps all of my students. My students are all ENL, coming from homes where their parents do not speak English. These items will help me, help them. I want to create different activities for them, to explore their imaginations. Also, wanting to introduce different programs to help them in all subject areas.
It is so important for me to allow the students to explore their strengths.
With the arts and crafts, my students will be able to explore and create, which will also be included in academic areas. We can turn a read aloud into an art project, or a math lesson can be better explained and understood through the use of crafts. Is is also a huge benefit to use notebooks, and paper with larger lines, including dashed lines, as well as picture space so the students can work on matching their pictures to words, while learning to elaborate on a picture and then elaborate on their words.
