it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are eager readers who love diving into stories that help them see the world through new eyes and build important life skills along the way. With your support, I would love to bring three powerful books into our classroom: The One and Only Ivan, The Lemonade War, and Save Me a Seat.
The One and Only Ivan teaches students about compassion, courage, and hope through the story of a gentle gorilla dreaming of a better life.
It’s a beautiful reminder that small actions can lead to big changes.
The Lemonade War combines real-world math skills with lessons about honesty, problem-solving, and teamwork as a brother and sister compete to run the best lemonade stand.
Save Me a Seat helps students see life from different perspectives, promoting empathy, respect, and understanding as two boys from different backgrounds form an unlikely friendship.
Each of these stories offers rich opportunities for classroom discussions about kindness, resilience, and making good choices. With these new class sets, we can create a reading environment that builds stronger readers — and stronger people.
